Have these to hand
- The patient’s name and date of birth
- Home address or current location
- A phone number for the nurse to ring back
- The name of the patient’s own GP
- Medical card, GP visit card, or payment card
- A brief summary of the symptoms

- SouthDoc is an appointment-only service. Please don’t travel to a centre without one.

Do I need an appointment?
Yes. SouthDoc is an appointment-only service. Always call 0818 355 999 first; please don’t travel to a treatment centre without an appointment.
How much does a consultation cost?
Consultations are free for medical card and GP visit card holders. Otherwise a standard fee applies, payable by card. Have your card details ready when you call.
Will my own GP know I was seen?
Yes. Details of your SouthDoc consultation are sent directly to your own GP the following morning so your care stays joined up.
What if I’m deaf or speech impaired?
SouthDoc provides a dedicated SMS text service so you can contact us without a voice call. See the SMS service page for how to register and use it.
Can SouthDoc do home visits?
Yes, where the triage nurse assesses that a home visit is the appropriate care. This is decided during the triage call.

Our dedicated SMS text service means everyone can reach urgent GP care. Patient information is also available in other languages, including Ukrainian.
