Fees and how to pay

Patients with a valid medical card or GP visit card are covered. All other patients pay a consultation fee, which you can pay by card at the treatment centre or online.

Medical card and GP visit card holders

There is no charge for the consultation if you have a valid medical card or GP visit card. Please have the card number ready when you call and bring the card to your appointment.

Private patients

If you do not hold a medical card or GP visit card, a consultation fee applies. The fee depends on the type of consultation (telephone advice, treatment centre visit or home visit) and is confirmed when you call.

Payment is by debit or credit card at the treatment centre, or online afterwards using your Case ID.

Pay online

You can pay your SouthDoc consultation fee securely online by debit or credit card. You will need the Case ID from your consultation, the patient’s name and a contact phone number.

  • By phone: call the daytime office on 064 669 1974, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Frequently asked questions

Do I pay before I am seen?

No. The fee is taken at the treatment centre or after the consultation. You can pay online at any time afterwards using your Case ID.

Is there a fee for a home visit?

Home visits are arranged by the triage nurse where they are needed. A fee applies for private patients and is confirmed when the visit is arranged.

What if I have private health insurance?

You pay the consultation fee on the day and claim it back from your insurer where your plan covers out-of-hours GP visits. Keep your receipt.

Can I get a receipt?

Yes. Online payments send an email receipt automatically. For treatment centre payments, ask at reception or email reception@southdoc.ie with your Case ID.
